Codex Entry: Might of the Legion
With a path paved via the blood of countless innocents, the Zauhlon Legion not only has proven itself to be one of the most merciless factions of the galaxy, but one of the mitiest as well. In today’s codex entry, we’ll be taking a closer look at the force that nearly brought humanity to extinction.

Formed ten years after a nuclear winter decimated their homeworld of Luram, the Zauhlon Legion serves as the primary military power for the zauhlon people and represents the lust for battle that defines their kind. Often times, that craving is targeted at other alien races, though they've been known to keep rebellions in check as well.
At the height of their power, they controlled six star systems. Instead of colonizing the systems worlds in the classical sense, they used the inhabitable planets as hunting grounds; ways to hone their ability to kill. According to tradition, no zauhlon is permitted to be born anywhere else than Luram. Given the harsh conditions of the homeworld, they believe surviving the trials Luram poses is the only way to become a zauhlon worthy of the Legion; a right of passage so to say.
only the strongest will make it to the peak of the mountain
At the top of the Zauhlon Legion is the lord admiral. They command the entire Legion and serve as an equal to the Overlord; leader of the Zauhlon Hierarchy.
Unlike with the rest of the ranking structure present in the Legion, the only way to achieve the title of lord admiral is to kill or enslave the current holder of the rank.
The lowest rank is that of a grunt. Clad in golden armor, they make up the brunt of Zauhlon Legion's infantry. Whether it be hooves on the ground combat or boarding other ships, grunts are always on the front line.
Acting as the special forces for the Legion are the Centurions. With jet black armor, they often accompany the lord admiral in combat. Alternatively, they're sent to eliminate high value targets. It's said that a squad of Centurions are capable of killing an entire company's worth of human marines.
In the wake of the Legion is blood and ashes
The most notable conflicts the Zauhlon Legion have participated in were the War of Devils against the anthrum, and the First Contact War against humanity. While the zauhlons lost both wars, the destruction they left in their wake was monumental. Cities were left in ruins, and if it weren't for the Galactic Republic stepping in to stop the First Contact War, mankind very well could have become extinct at their hand.
The death toll of the First Contact War was said to be in the hundreds of millions. Even now, humanity has never faced such destruction.
Despite being relegated to only three star systems, the legendary bloodlust of the zauhlons burns as strong as ever. With Lord Admiral Korruk commanding them, it's unlikely they'll respect the restrictions that the Republic placed on them for very long. If or when that day comes, the galaxy will once again face the terror of the Legion.
