Codex Entry: Star Command, the Shield of Humanity

   During the First Contact War against the Zauhlon Legion, all that stood between mankind and annihilation was Star Command, humanity's interstellar military. The courage that the men and women of Star Command displayed during that conflict is worthy enough for an entry of its own. In today’s Codex Entry though, let's talk about the military itself.

   Formed in 2110, Star Command is the sole military representing humanity. From the Colonial Age to the interstellar war against terror, Star Command has protected the citizens of mankind against any and all threats, including those posed by aliens.

   The most notable branches of Star Command are the Marine Corps. and the Navy. Made up of eight fleets of one thousand ships, the Navy acts as humanity's shield and sword among the stars. Without the sailors who served on the thousands of ships encompassing the Star Command Navy, the Zauhlon Legion would've laid waste to mankind's colonies, and most importantly, Earth.

Through a united effort, even the darkest of hours can be withstood

   Each fleet is made up of ten flotillas, which consist of one hundred ships. During battles that requires all one thousand ships, it's not uncommon for the fleet admiral to partake in said battle.

   Because of the First Contact War and the abundance of successful boarding attempts by the zauhlons, it's commonplace for all sailors to have sidearms at hand.

   The Marine Corps. is a vital element both to the defense of Star Command vessels in the event of a boarding, and for quick insertions into planetside battles. Even in the face of certain doom, the marines representing mankind hold the line, as seen in the Titanic Battle of Mars in the final day of the First Contact War.

   While not as well armored as their special forces counterpart, the Star Bourn, the basic marines are just as tenacious and courageous. Outside of the First Contact War's final battle, the most notable battle the Marine Corps. partook in was the Second Battle of Ishtar Prime. After the Zauhlon Legion seized control of the colony world, it was the marines still planetside that led an attack to retake the capital city of Infitera.

   Their success allowed them to get in communication with the Navy, leading to the reclaiming of Ishtar Prime.

Even in the face of certain doom, the Star Command Marine Corps. never backed down

   Today, the Marine Corps. have been deployed to various locations throughout the Badlands in an attempt to clean the sector up of its rampant crime. While the initiative has faced criticism from the public, the majority of battles fought against pirate gangs and militias have ended in victory for the marines.

   One thing is for certain; without Star Command's marines, a lot more civilians would have died at the hands of the zauhlons.

   While Star Command may not be as strong as the other Republic militaries, there’s an undeniable tenacity that humans bring to the table. Their determination, valor, and loyalty to one another inspires their alien allies, though some are less willing to admit that than others.

One thing can be said with absolute certainty; humanity, and as a result Star Command, thrives on the fact that the galaxy underestimates them. It’s that arrogance that’s allowed each branch of Star Command to ascertain victory on countless battlefields in the Badlands.
